Fire at Matsushita Lithium Battery Plant Delays Optio A40 from November to February

(Updated with corrected information) Reuters reported yesterday that a fire at the Matsushita Battery Industrial plant last September has halted production of an order of unspecified lithium-ion batteries by Pentax and that the delay may force Pentax to hold off announcing a new camera model until February, 2008. Pentax later clarified that the camera model in question is the Optio A40, already announced on October 2nd, and that it was not for an as yet unannounced DSLR. The Optio A40 will be shipping now in February. (via PentaxWorld).

Verizon is about the only place you can get the authentic RIM product and matching door. Most other sites are out of stock and even when they are in stock they have the black battery door which looks like crap.
